Project 365 Day 119

It was a beautiful, but busy day, so tonight we are taking it easy.  Daddy is out of town with work and dd does not have school tomorrow.  So...we bought some snacks and borrowed a movie from friends and she and I are curled up on my bed for a "sleepover".  Fun!
Have a great evening!

Project 365 Day 118

Here is my sweet girl waiting patiently as I check out her library books today. Don't you just love the kids chairs at the local library? I'd like to have a set of these for our playroom.

 Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 117

I did get a picture for today. I was volunteering my time at my school to judge an 'Invention Convention'. (Some pretty cool ideas out there!) Unfortunately, the camera belongs to a friend of mine and I need her to email it to me (the pic, not the camera - hehehe). Hopefully, it'll only be a day or so.

Project 365 Day 116

Today, my BF came over for a visit.  We spent some time making reply cards for her sister's wedding and then the inevitable photo admiration and scrap session began.  You can't beat an afternoon of scrap, laugh and tea!

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 115

Yup...that's SNOW!  Enough said!
Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 114

I think I surprised these ducks who were puffed up and cuddled in for the night.  Sorry duckies!
Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 113

This is my favorite time of day.  Dd is coming home from school and today is Friday :)  She usually comes flying off the bus with her hair flying and arms open.  I have tried to get that pic for several days, but I can't get one in focus.  Instead, here is her bus - it moves slower than she does :)

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 112

After school today, my daughter and her friends wanted to walk to the park. There are two great play structures at the playground, but they had the most fun wandering through the trees collecting fallen twigs and "planting" them in the gravel back at the play area.

I admire the simplicity of youth and their ability to find joy and pleasure in everyday things. My dd reminds me of the kid inside myself and to take note of the important things... like twigs.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 111

Sticking with the theme of where we live, today's prompt was to take a pic of something unique in our area.  This is a fishing stage in a small village about 2 km from downtown.  I just love the bright colors often selected to paint these buildings and indeed many houses in our province.  It certainly brightens the FOG!  Yup, it's still here :(

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 110

We are completely and utterly surrounded by FOG!  I find this type of weather so discouraging.  It's too wet to go outside and always seems dark.  I need bright light.  The prompt today at Gotta Pixel was to take a picture of where we live from on high, to get an overview.  Normally, from Signal Hill, we get an absolutely fabulous view of the harbour on one side and of Cape Spear on the other.  This was the view today.

Can you see why I am so eager for the weather to change?
I hope the sun is shining wherever you are.

Project 365 Day 109

Although it was beautiful, warm and sunny in Alberta, it has been cold, wet and foggy here for too long.  The humidity is very high and everything is completely soaked.  When the rain let up for a few minutes this afternoon, the water on our birch tree was bright and sparkly.  It was beautiful.  Shortly after, the sun came out for an hour and every house on the block exploded with kids coming out to play.  Hopefully the fog doesn't last too much longer.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 108

All good things must come to an end...on this day we went home.  Another seven and a half hours on a plane, but we're home again safe and sound.

My favorite part of flying is that it is always a fine day above the clouds.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 107

APEGGA sure knows how to throw conference events.  Tonight we went on a cruise - well, sort of.  They had a gangway set up to enter the ballroom.  Blue lights flickered on the walls to create a water effect.  Table centerpieces included candles floating in blue water, sand dollars, sea shells and tropical flowers.  Patio tables and lounge chairs decorated the "lido deck" where on board entertainment took place.  A fun time for sure.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 106

Today I went to the Art Gallery of Alberta.  It is very new and certainly a unique addition to the downtown skyline.  The first exhibit was a sound installation called a Murder of Crows.  There were 98 speaker each producing a different sound to accompany the interpretation of three dreams.  I'm not used to this type of presentation and found intriguing.  Next was an exhibit about Yousef Karsch.  His portraits are striking and seem to peer into the personality of the person they represent.  If you ever get the chance to look up some of his pieces you'll see what I mean.  The AGA also housed exhibits by Goya and Degas.

It was not permitted to photograph the exhibits, but that was okay.  The building, itself, was interesting enough.  The structure was designed to represent the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights.  Its curves and waves along side the industrial windows and zinc and wooden walls made for an interesting study on a sunny day.  The first pic is the one I chose for my photo of the day, but I could not resist displaying the others as well.

Project 365 Day 105

For me, one of the best parts of traveling is the food.  I just love new and interesting flavours and interesting presentation.  This is one of the best chocolate cakes I have ever eaten.  Despite the angel hair candy floss on top, I can assure you that the flourless chocolate delight underneath was devilishly delicious.  The figs, blueberries and caramel simply added to the sinful goodness.  :)

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 104

I was tired and cramped after seven and a half hours in a plane, but this is what greeted us as we checked in to our hotel.  What a beautiful day.  This is my first visit to Edmonton since I was a kid traveling with Mom and Dad.  I can't wait to get out and explore a little.  This is Churchill terrace.  You can see the city hall pyramid and the new Art Gallery of Alberta.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 103

I often look at my fridge and all the stuff on it and think "I should really tidy that up a bit."  But then, I look at all the treasures that make up that stuff and don't want to change a thing.  This is my "Fridge of Pride" and I love it.  Now, if I could only get it to auto dispense ice cubes and cold water...hehehe :)

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 102

We had a beautiful roast chicken supper tonight with all the fixings.  My fave.  Though it is not difficult to prepare, it does generate a lot of dishes.  I did load the dishwasher, but not everything fit.  These will have to wait for the next run.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 101

Family dinner with Nanny and Poppy.  Good times.

Here's a scrap page I made of the same evening.  I just love to watch them all together :)

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 100

WOW...I can't believe it.  I have documented 100 days of 2010!  Making it this far is the best motivation for continuing this project which, at times, is not as easy, nor as straight forward as it seems. :)

I decided that I deserved a treat to mark this progress and to preserve the efforts made to make it this far.  You cannot have enough backup. I had a "dropping" incident with my first EHD about a year ago and have been obsessed with backing up all my files since then. This little baby is to be an entirely redundant 3rd backup. An appropriate self prize for reaching this point in my 365 goal don't you think?

Happy scrappin' and bloggin' to all 365'ers out there :)

Project 365 Day 99

Another great day of play.  My best friend and her kids came over for the day and one of dd's classmates joined us for a trip to the playground.  They are so adorable.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 98

Time for a change of tires.  This is surely a sign of Spring!  Hopefully, we are not too early.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 97

Outdoor play is one of the best parts of this time of year.  Dd's imagination and chalk drawing skills have improved greatly this past year.  In this picture, she is drawing me some flowers for my garden because we don't have any yet.  Don't you love the beautiful blue sky?  She's awesome.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 96

Here are my favorite deck chairs.  Believe it or not, they are remarkably comfortable and nothing beats taking a break on a beautiful day to catch a few rays.  They are old and in desperate need of paint and a few repairs, but I love them and am happy that spring is here so we can start to enjoy them again. :)

My original photo was a bit overexposed, so I played around with it in Lightroom 2.  I'm quite pleased with the result.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 95

This one is for those of you with picky eaters in your home.  My dd will eat a bowl full of veggies, any dairy product, almost any fruit and practically all grain products.  She does NOT like meat.  Eggs are, consequently, a dietary staple in our house for the time being.  Today, as a tribute to spring, we made a flowered egg.  I was particularly pleased with the cloud (top right) until she called it a butterfly.  I think she's right.  :)

Happy spring to you!

Project 365 Day 94

No more peanut allergies in our house! No more epipens! No more Dr. worries...well, perhaps we should be a bit concerned about the dentist. This is the first time dd gets to enjoy any chocolate treat she wants! The Easter Bunny brought these. Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and friends also ensured her chocolate free-for-all was well supplied.

Happy Easter to all!

Project 365 Day 93

Another sunny day!  Yahoo!  Dd's bike was finally brought up from downstairs, the deck swing is set up and the remaining snow has been relegated to the far corners of the yard.  Here's my sweetie making me a cake in the sand pit.  She did add a couple of worm "treats" and iced it with snow.  You gotta love that!

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 92

Finally a beautiful sunny day!  The kids spent the entire afternoon playing outside together.    Here is my daughter and her best friend.  They have literally been friends their whole life and I am so pleased they get along well.  You see, their Mom's are best friends so they didn't really get much choice in the matter.  :)

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 91

Oh well, if I can't have warmer weather, I can still enjoy the fruits of the warmer seasons.  I found these today at the grocery store and they certainly did make for a nice treat.  Yummy!

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 90

Changing seasons brings a change in outdoor toys.  Scooters, bikes swings and now the sand pit are making a reappearance on our street.  Surely spring weather will be here soon.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 89

Fog, fog and more fog!  Oh the joy of living at the intersection of the Labrador Current and the Gulf Stream!  I can't wait till this grey lifts and we can see the sun again!

Here's hoping you had a sunny day!
