Project 365 Day 365

Somehow, I managed to skip day 262...a lovely banana bread.  I am not going back today to rename all of my posts, so here is my final post of 2010.

Happy New Year!  May 2011 find you all happy and healthy!

Project 365 Day 364

I miss my Nan a lot at this time of year. She loved any reason to celebrate and Christmas was no exception. She brought this battery operated, walking and jingling Santa to our house when we were young and I don't think we could have been more impressed if Santa himself came through the door. Needless to say, he still occupies a place of importance among the decorations at my Mom's house. Thanks for supper again tonight Mom!

Nan was truly awesome.  Here is a video which shows some of what she was like.  Socially outgoing, excellent dancer, talented story teller, skill full friend maker and fun filled.  I made this shortly after she passed.  I still watch it to bring her back to us.

Have a great day.  If you still have your grandparents...love them and let them know it.

Project 365 Day 363

This is what we gave my hubby for Christmas. Unfortunately for him, we have been fogged in since well before Christmas. Today we had a brief clear period, so he set his sights on the moon. Cool!

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 362

Glow golf, supper out and a movie with sweetest daughter and awesome hubby! This is the way to spend the holidays!

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 361

I just love having some free time!  Today, I followed the prompt at Gotta Pixel and the tutorial on making heart bokeh and made this awesome shot of my dd in front of our tree lights.  It only took a couple of minutes to make the cardboard filter.   I am infinitely pleased with the result.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 360

Ever since I began dating my hubby, we have spent Boxing day evening with his family at Aunt B's.  Tonight was no exception.  Dd had great fun with her cousins and dh and I actually got to sit at the adults table.  As we were leaving, it was noted how much dd looked like me in her coat and hat.  I had to use that as my pic for the day.

Hoping your holidays are happy!

Project 365 Day 359

Merry Christmas!

Project 365 Day 358

Twas the night before Christmas...Norad says Santa is on his way across the Atlantic so it's time for all good boys and girls from Newfoundland to be headed to bed.  It was great to have Poppy read and to share the night with my sister and her family.  Awesome memories.

Happy Christmas!  Wishing health and happiness to you all!

Project 365 Day 357

Done!  Let the festivities begin!

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 356

Classroom door decorating is an annual tradition at my school.  This year, students were given very specific materials and were required to use them all, no exceptions and no additions.  My students were awesome, as usual.   I really like the cotton ball Santa Beard, the personal ornaments and the toilet paper snowflakes.  7-7 est le BEST!

Have a great day!  Happy holidays to all my students and co-workers!

Project 365 Day 355

School pictures for this year have arrived.  I always dread this "mugshot" tradition, but it is really cool to be able to look back over a career year by year.  All said, this mugshot is not too bad.  I definitely would not be sharing the years of big glasses nor the spiral perm...Oh my.  Perhaps in another 10 years I'll be hiding this one too.  For now, this is pretty much what I look like on a normal work day.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 354

I love that everyone comes together at this time of year.  As a school, we raised enough money to feed 241 families this Christmas.  Great job Ravens!

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 353

My dd and her friends just love to dance!  Today, she was invited to a cookie decorating party.  Once the mess making was done, the girls went down to the rec room to prepare a show while the adults did a little clean up.  Here is just one of the poses they struck during their performance.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 352

Merry Christmas to all my family and friends.  It may be a little late, but this Christmas card should find your mailboxes soon!

Happy Holidays to you all!

Project 365 Day 351

Tonight we ate at the "Jungle".  Fortunately, we had a young tribe member to escort us through our dining experience.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 350

Today I participated in a mentorship development workshop as a new teacher mentor.  One of the activities was to reflect upon how we felt as beginning teachers and to create an image of the new teacher as he/she may see themselves as they start out.  This is just one of the amazing creatures created during the activity.  Oh my...starting out is truly challenging!  I wonder what kind of image the new teachers would have created for us?

Have a reflective day!

Project 365 Day 349

I love the glow of the Christmas tree and the warm feeling it adds to the house at this time of year.  Today, this chilly guy caught my eye.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 347

Look Mom, we found a new website at school today!
When I think back to my own first experiences with a computer...Vic 10, Commodore 64 etc...I am truly amazed by the tech skills our young ones are picking up and by the speed at which they do it.  Kids brains are truly awesome.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 348

My students have made me several of these beautiful snowflakes.  My ceiling is currently a frosted wonder.  Ironically, we still do not have snow on the ground outdoors.  Will we have a white Christmas?  The verdict is still undecided.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 345

Happy Birthday K!  These people have been friends of ours for many years and our first born are only days apart.  Fun times.  Great job on the cake Mom!

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 344

My bf and her family usually enter a float into the Santa Claus Parade in the community where I teach.  Dd has been going with them for a while, but the last two years, I have gotten to come along as well.  It was a beautiful day for a parade:  bright and cold, but no wind!  Here is my friend with two of her three kids.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 343

Christmas candles in our front window.  I love the lights of Christmas.  Hopefully, all the decorating will be done soon.  Dh is going to do the tree this weekend.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 342

Dd was a baseball player in her Christmas play tonight.  Many thanks to Daddy who got it all on video for me.  I couldn't go due to parent-teacher interviews at my own school.  This is dd with her grade one teacher.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 341

I was playing around with the new Nikon during our MCast meeting this afternoon.  I really liked this shot.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 340

Our daughter is a very restless sleeper.  I think she gets that from me.  Poor dear!

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 339

Yippee!!! Two of these arrived at school today for our multimedia group!  I can't wait to get them out of the box and to try them out!

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 338

This is my mistletoad...Isn't he cute?

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 337

Concert de Noel at the École des Grands Vents. Dd and the other club du samedi kids were too cute for words as they did their recitals and sang their carols in French.
She was confident and sang clearly. I'm so proud of her.

Passez une bonne journée!

Project 365 Day 336

I can't believe I forgot my camera! After work today, we picked up Daddy and went out for supper and a movie. This one was cute and very funny!

Hope your day is not too Tangled!

Project 365 Day 335

Dd's teacher helped her class write their letters to Santa in French this year. Then, they took a walk to the local post office to send them to the North Pole. Today, she got a letter back...en français!!! So cool...

Yeah...I'm a real school geek. Guess that's why I teach.

Have a great day.  I hope Santa gets your letter too.

Project 365 Day 334

Yay...It's time to light the outdoor Christmas lights. I love Christmas decorations at night.

Have a holly jolly night!

Project 365 Day 333

A sure sign of winter...warm clothes "dropped" in the front porch.

Have a warm day!

Project 365 Day 332

Dd: What do you think?
Me: It's the most beautiful tree I've seen.

She was so proud. Daddy put it together and she decorated it all by herself.

Have a merry day!

Project 365 Day 331

Rain, sun, freezing wind...we had it all today.  Here we are at the downtown Santa Claus parade.  We primed with hot chocolate and coffee at Auntie K's work and then took our spots outside to see the floats, bands, cheerleaders and, of course, the big guy himself at the end of the parade.  It was a fun afternoon.  My heart goes out to all the dancers and cheerleaders who must have been freezing, but kept smiling throughout.  Hopefully they are all warm and toasty tonight.

Happy start to the Christmas Season!

Project 365 Day 330

First visit with new baby cousin today!  Dd looked and said how cute he was and then wanted to play with his brother.  Go figure.  I guess the baby wasn't as interesting as the astronaut sticker book.  :)

I loved visiting and holding the little guy.  He's changing already!  How quickly babies grow!

Project 365 Day 329

In the airport waiting for Daddy's plane to arrive.  Fortunately we had a coloring book and crayons because he was delayed.  Apparently, as the plane was heading toward the runway to take off, they realized they had an extra person on board.  The extra passenger, a woman, had forgotten to get off when the plane landed in Halifax!  They had to go back to the gate to let her deplane.  Can you believe it?

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 328

Coming home in the dark to an empty house...this is NOT my favorite time of year.  Come on December 21 so the days can start getting longer again!!!

Hoping you had a great day!

Project 365 Day 327

This is how I go to sleep each evening.  There's something about the national news and Peter Mansbridge's voice that allows my mind to stop swirling and spinning.

Happy dreams!

Project 365 Day 326

The first snow falls of the season are always the best for making snowmen.  Even though we did not get home until after dark, dd and I still went out to take advantage of the sticky snow to roll up this fellow.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 325

It had to happen sooner or later.  Today we got the first snowfall large enough to require a shovel.

Hoping you all have snow tires!

Project 365 Day 324

Nanny and Poppy have the best trees for autumn leaf fun!  We popped by for a visit today and dd couldn't wait to begin throwing!

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 323

A Hawaiian surprise party for one of my friends.  She is usually the center of all plans and doesn't let much slip by her.  We truly got her this time.  She did not suspect a thing.  We all wish you the best as you head off to the "tropical" wonders of Poland in December.

Here's hoping your day includes some pleasant surprises!

Project 365 Day 322

Although I did actually take this one yesterday, I needed to show you, up close, the newest addition to the family.

Have a wonderful day!

Project 365 Day 321

He's finally here.  A beautiful baby boy with light brown hair and blue eyes and a super strong resemblance to his brother.  This was the very first family pic for new baby D.  He is literally only seconds old in this shot.

I cannot thank my sister and her silly hubby enough for letting me be such an intimate participant in a wondrous day.

Project 365 Day 320

It's official, my sister has been admitted and new baby is on the way. I cannot wait to meet him.  There's still some laboring to be done, but birthday day is going to be very soon!

Have an awesome day.

Project 365 Day 319

Alphabets are the best treat cereal for a 6 year old who's learning to read. We find new and interesting words every day...then, we eat them up!

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 318

I wish all homework could be this much fun. Tonight dd had the "sac spécial" full of games and puppets for a fun night of learning. Monsieur Son, the puppet, was an excellent reader.

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 317

work...work...work...I can't wait till term one reports are done.

Don't forget to take some time for yourself every day!

Project 365 Day 316

You gotta love fall!

Have a great day!

Project 365 Day 315

Playing crib and watching hockey. A perfect evening for my hubby and his buddy.

Have a great day!
